Job Description:

Franklin University is seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach an undergraduate level web development course focusing on PHP and Model-View-Controller architectures beginning in May 2019. The 12-week course will be offered in an online student-centered environment that is focused on teaching working adults.

The course is WEBD 236 – Web Information Systems Programming. This course builds web applications by employing server-side scripts that query relational databases. The student learns and reflects on two- and three-tier software architectures, separation of responsibility, model-view-controller pattern, basic security, and web frameworks. The student will design, code, test, debug, and document programs using a server-based scripting language.

Job Requirements:

  • Requirements for this position include a minimum of a Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology or a closely related field.
  • Experience with PHP, web frameworks, and database systems is essential.
  • Prior teaching experience in an online environment is desirable.
  • Weekly web-based meetings to teach course content is expected.
  • Successful candidates will demonstrate an excellent work ethic and a passion to teach software development with flexibility and integrity to busy working adult students.
