Percona is looking for a flexible and efficient QA Engineer to join it’s QA team. You will have the opportunity to work from your home office, using online tools and resources to contribute to a high quality QA environment for Percona and it’s customers. Travel once a year to yearly team meeting. Access to a reliable high-speed internet connection is required. Flexible work hours. Friendly team. Equipment is provided. Job Responsibilities:
- Evaluate new features and product releases, locating product issues & bugs.
- Formulate QA plans for new features and product releases with assistance from, and for review by, the director of QA.
- Assist with the implementation and automation of various QA projects.
- Assist clients with implementing various items relating to their QA environment.
- Monitor, and analyze/log failures for; automated regression, performance, and various other QA related jobs.
Job Requirements:
Core Skills
- Proficient with MySQL server, InnoDB, SQL
- Proficient in bash/shell/python scripting
- Suitable Linux expertise (file systems, hardware, and networking)
- Good communicator with fluent written and spoken English
- Previous exposure to (preferably database or backup-related) QA, or equivalent experience in (for example) a senior support, development or a non-database QA role.
Desired Skills
- Previous experience with Jenkins, JIRA
- Python coding skills a plus
- Supplemental/other MySQL related technologies
- Solid understanding of advanced database concepts such as replication, sharding, and PITR
- Proficiency with building MySQL and/or other products from source
- Previous packaging (yum/apt-get) experience
- Proficiency with tools like gdb, strace etc.
- C/C++ skills and/or extensive/multi-threaded bash/shell/python scripting skills
- Proven success working in a distributed environment where e-mail, IRC and voice calls are the only interactions with others on a daily basis
