Infrastructure Acquisition Manager
(Work Remotely in North America or Europe)

Fastly

Job Description:

Fastly is looking for an infrastructure acquisition manager to join our growing Infrastructure Team. This role will be part of a team that is responsible for the overall strategy and execution of Fastly’s deployment and network expansion goals across the North America and European regions. The role requires both a business and technical mindset; the ability to network, negotiate, and manage projects while mindfully managing key details around colocation, connectivity, and cloud services use. The role will support the rapid growth of our global network infrastructure by strategically acquiring datacenter services, IP connectivity, negotiating interconnection, and driving the supplier lifecycle.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Operate as a key business partner to oversee the acquisition lifecycle across multiple strategic suppliers within Fastly’s portfolio for datacenter and IP connectivity, dark fiber, and other infrastructure services.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and guidance to business leaders by understanding acquisition strategy, market dynamics, risk and exposure, and long term planning.
  • Manage key supplier relationships; monitor supplier performance, spend, invoicing accuracy, and other internal metrics to drive efficiency.
  • Lead complex negotiations and contract reviews as a single Fastly POC for external suppliers.
  • Provides project management guidance during deployment, upgrade, and augment activities.
  • Regularly attend regional datacenter and interconnection events; engage with new interconnection partners to grow Fastly’s network reach.
  • Analyze network telemetry to develop interconnection strategies and work with partners to ensure that there is adequate network and server capacity to meet the business’s needs.
  • Participate in weekly network planning and capacity reviews; create budgets, forecasts, and related reports as necessary.
  • Be able to own a relationship end to end, so this also means you are willing to troubleshoot technical issues with suppliers and escalate as required.

Job Requirements:

  • 4+ years of direct experience in sourcing, contract negotiation and administration, and/or in project management is preferred.
  • Prior specific experience in procurement, sourcing, purchasing and supplier relations for datacenter and connectivity related services.
  • Experience in network operations and/or procurement in Content Delivery Network (CDN), Internet Service Provider (ISP), Hosting, or other datacenter-centric environments is a plus
  • You must be an independent self-starter who has experience in data center and network infrastructure procurement; you must be proficient in negotiating and executing contracts.
  • You must thrive in a fast-paced, challenging environment, and must be highly capable of managing and prioritizing multiple projects in the context of larger cross-functional initiatives
  • You must be detail-oriented, organized, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • You must possess strong organizational and analytical skills; have proficiency in Microsoft Office suite as well as the ability to use other planning and analysis tools.
  • An intermediate knowledge of financial reporting and modeling is highly preferred.
  • B.A. or B.S. in an engineering, computer-related field of study, mathematics, business, or other equivalent degree and/or sufficient on-the-job training.
  • This position may require regular travel. A passport is required.
