Pet Editor
(Work Remotely from the US)

Rover

Job Description:

Did you see “Pet Editor” and think, “OMG yes—sign me up”? Then you’ve come to the right place. Whether you’re a dog person or a cat person (no judgement here), you have an indefatigable desire to research, write, edit, and optimize articles that inspire people to be the best pet parents possible.
We’re looking for someone to own several verticals in The Dog People—Rover’s popular media outlet—as a part-time editor, responsible for creating and publishing articles. This role includes SEO optimization and research; writing and copy-editing; working with freelancers; and driving key business goals.
We’re looking for an editor who balances a keen sense of voice with a love of data: You’re fired up to dig into the numbers and optimize your articles to tell high-impact stories. Being responsible for your goals and metrics will inspire you.
You’re a skilled editor who knows how to shape ideas into highly-engaging and super-informational stories that educate and delight. The ideal candidate has extensive experience writing and editing for online publications, particularly pet or lifestyle outlets. You’ll need excellent research skills, impeccable proofreading abilities, and a strong grasp of voice and tone. An exceptional attention to detail, from voice to grammar, is key. Editors should feel comfortable with WordPress and have basic/foundational knowledge of HTML and image formatting.
But you already knew you’d have to be a fierce editor, right? Rover’s publishing team walks the line between celebrating the wonderful weirdness of dogs (#CorgiButts4Ever) and obsessing over results (#Metrics). Here are some skills that’ll set you apart and help you succeed at Rover:
