As the Proposal Writer, you’ll play a critical role building our winning proposals. You will collaborate closely with a team of Sales and Technical staff throughout the business development lifecycle. You must be self-motivated, highly organized and efficient, and bring both editorial and operational skills to any project you are assigned. You must also be an excellent writer/editor who can adapt to a variety of formats; know how to manage projects and make decisions based on metrics and data; and create thorough documentation to track progress and maintain communications of plans to all stakeholders. Job Responsibilities:

As the Proposal Writer, you will work closely with Sales, Technical and Bids and Proposal staff to understand and incorporate discriminators, features, and benefits throughout the proposal effectively, and in a way that differentiates Iron Bow from our competitors. Additionally, the successful candidate will:

    • Provide writing support to develop executive summaries, technical solutions, management, and past performance volumes to communicate the company’s capabilities successfully
    • Interview program managers and task leads, and other technical personnel to collect technical and methodology information and incorporate that information into writing winning technical approach sections of proposals
    • Develop win themes and incorporate strategies from review teams for final proposal drafts
    • Participate in storyboarding and content development meetings
    • Provide input and direction to visual communications specialists in the development of supporting graphics, photography, and covers
    • Direct project resources and managers to provide accurate and compelling input to marketing documents and proposals
    • Engage throughout the proposal lifecycle to create uniform and compelling proposal content
    • Ensure adherence to standards and templates to present a consistent appearance/style in compliance with our corporate identity
    • Review, edit, and proofread documents to ensure accuracy, clarity, consistency
    • Manage and prioritize multiple proposal assignments to meet strict submittal deadlines
    • Provide support in creating marketing collateral; may assist with company website and marketing efforts
    • Update/maintain reference materials (including past performance, resumes, graphics, marketing material) in SharePoint
    • Support proposal production efforts to include: printing, binding, packaging, shipping, etc.
Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in English, Journalism, Communications, Liberal Arts or similar major
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Federal contracting environment required
  • Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat, and Deltek GovWin
  • Experience with a range of contract types including large IDIQ vehicles and task orders
  • Understanding of government acronyms and correct usage
  • Flexibility to work long hours, as required, for proposal activities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • APMP or Shipley certification preferred
  • Demonstrated creative thinker, willing to take risks and try new things
  • Demonstrated ability to use data and compelling materials to tell stories
  • Demonstrated ability to work calmly, optimistically, and maintain good judgment in fast-paced environments
  • Demonstrated ability to advise other writers on writing/grammatical standards gracefully
  • Demonstrated ability to apply research and analysis skills to find answers and opportunities for improvement
  • Effective at eliminating superfluous content and clarifying jargon, as well as “fit editing” to stay within required page limits
  • Demonstrated ability to learn complex topics quickly and work with SMEs to transfer their technical knowledge into prose
  • Knowledge of GAO, AP, or Chicago style manual for professional standards
  • Flexibility to work long hours, as required, for proposal activities
