The Project

CONE is a set of frameworks and tools (both web 2.0 and blockchain) that enable hierarchical corporations to transform into decentralized networks. By harnessing market mechanisms, such as feedback loops, distributed incentives, and value signals, we are able to make organizations more innovative, scalable, and resilient.

Short for collaborative network economies, CONE creates internal markets such that large teams function similar to independent companies and the organization as a whole resembles a free market. By fine tuning incentives, bylaws, and other systems, we are able to create networks that are collaborative, open, and dynamic.

There is currently one pilot underway, with additional pilots expected to begin in Q1 2019. In these tests, sufficiently large teams will behave as if they were independent companies and will transact with one another at market prices. For example, rather than requesting free services, a product team may pay the internal marketing department fair market prices for online advertising services, or they might choose to use a third party agency instead on the basis of price, quality, and/or speed.

In order to maintain distinct and comprehensive books for each team, we must account for all internal (e.g., product team pays marketing team) and external (e.g., product team pays Fedex) transactions.

Job Responsibilities:

The accounting analyst is needed to support the additional managerial accounting, reporting, and analytical workload necessary to track teams as if they were companies and to support their strategic development. You will act as an all-in-one finance department for select teams participating in the pilot by:

• Entering journal entries;
• Approving invoices;
• Assisting with procurement;
• Overseeing billing and accounts receivable;
• Filling typical treasury duties;
• Building and producing both ad-hoc and recurring reports; and
• Identifying and providing analysis as a strategic partner of the business unit.

As the first hire on the CONE team, you will have opportunities to shape and evolve your role as the project develops.

Job Requirements:

• BS/BA degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or similar;
• Working knowledge of GAAP/IFRS and a general background in accounting;
• Minimum of 2 years in corporate accounting / finance, public accounting or banking at a high-growth company or a large, well-established organization;
• Excel champion (you are comfortable creating complex models);
• Commitment to accurate detail and comfortable with a rapid execution environment;
• Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills (its the people who make the number crunching matter and you will participate in cross-functional teams);
• Collaborative approach and a self-starter (we value decentralization and this means you will be dedicated, collaborative, and able to set and achieve your goals);
• Fearless approach to new technology and tools (ideally you will have a working knowledge of ERP and financial planning systems);
• Strong demonstrable interest in emerging technology and innovative businesses;
• Experience in transaction structuring and stakeholder relations and management; and
• A basic understanding of Ethereum.
• Bonus points for:
  • CPA, CFA, or MBA
  • Proficiency with SQL and data tools (Tableau or Looker)
  • Prior professional blockchain experience
