Overview

The primary role of the Program Chair of Bachelor’s of Science in Business Management, the Master’s of Science in Management, and the Masters in International Mangement is to work collaboratively with CSU-Global academic staff and leadership to provide discipline-specific leadership, curricular expertise, and to make recommendations to Academic and University Leadership, Campus Staff, and the Curriculum Committee. The Program Chair will lead other program faculty to ensure curricular structure, integrity, an including by not limited to currency of programs, courses, grading rubrics, and continuity for existing and new programs. Other activities may include serving on committees, reviewing appeals, assessing transfer credit, and participating in assessment and accreditation activities. Program Chairs are full-time benefited, off-site exempt employees required to periodically travel to Greenwood Village, CO. The Program Chair reports through the Program Manager to the Vice-Provost for the below responsibilities and is required to teach two courses per year, in their assigned program, as part of their full time responsibilities. Overload teaching may be approved based on program need.

Job Duties/Performance Objectives:

This position is for a single Program Chair for the Bachelor’s of Science in Business Management, the Master’s of Science in Management and the Masters in International Management programs. This PC will manage three full-time Lead Faculty in the combined Business Management Programs, along with two part-time Lead Faculty. The candidate should be prepared to lead a combined Business Management division, which will also allow for stronger distinction/differentiation between the undergraduate and graduate programs, and potentially create a pipeline from BS to Master’s programs at CSU-Global.

Be the leader for academic quality and relevance for the assigned program:

• Manage the annual program review and the program assessment and design document per published guidelines and timelines for assigned program; establish a program assessment and curriculum team including the selection and management of lead faculty, content experts, industry experts, and faculty reviewers for the curriculum revision and assessment processes per approved standards and deadlines.
• Establish, select members, and maintain an Industry Advisory Council and/or Program Advisory Board ensuring a broad representation of the business sector.
Lead and manage curriculum, assessment, and accreditation activities in accordance with all guidelines, standards, and timelines.
• Review initial course outlines for consistency, relevance, quality, and continuity within the program area ensuring all courses meet curriculum standards and pass a functional QA; in accordance with QA schedules, review and approve the Master Syllabus and all course keys in the program area to ensure consistency, relevance, quality, content relevance, and continuity; interact with the instructional designers, curriculum managers, and assessment staff on new course development.
• Participate in institutional assessment activities, including outcome mapping, goals setting, creating reports, responding to institutional and system-wide queries, and engaging in the peer-review, via curriculum committee of other programs per approved assessment plans and deadlines; attend both biennial faculty meetings at the Greenwood Village, CO office (travel and lodging provided by CSU-Global Campus); serve on committees and attend

meetings (may attend virtually) initiated by CSU-Global for the purposes of academic and student enrichment as related to programs and curriculum.

• Make curricular decisions and recommend changes to the Curriculum Committee with a focus on providing a positive student experience; provide innovative content free of errors, and adherence to the CSU-Global Curriculum Standards and timelines.

Ensure academic quality through the effective selection and program specific development of faculty:

• Participate in the selection process for all faculty within the assigned program ensuring all faculty are fully credentialed and properly assigned to courses; partner with program mentor(s) ensuring appropriate teaching and program specific expectations are met; communicate with the faculty operations team within the CSU-Global established communication guidelines; participate in the ongoing content related professional development of program faculty.
• Conduct and record quarterly program faculty meetings synchronously and asynchronously via zoom. Maintain recorded sessions.
• Build continuity and mission commitment among part-time faculty

Support University initiatives:

• Review and assess requests for transfer credit, questions related to Academic Integrity, grade appeals, incomplete requests, PLA requests, and other administrative items within 48 hours
• Engage with current or potential students via email, phone or other means within the CSU-Global standards for communication.
• Teach two courses per year meeting all minimum teaching expectations in the Faculty Handbook.
• Be available and have computer access during standard business hours; respond to tickets and emails in accordance with established timelines and SLAs.

Job Requirements:

Experience & Education Requirements:

Program Chairs must hold the appropriate academic qualifications for their assigned discipline area, be able to meet the credentialing requirements of any applicable specialized accreditation, have teaching experience consistent with part time hiring policy, and documented curriculum development experience.
• A doctoral degree from a regionally accredited university.
• Educational experience in instruction and program and course development.
• Must maintain an active teaching role at CSU-Global.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to read, understand, interpret and implement accreditation criteria and state agency regulations.
• Ability to effectively present information to faculty, academic and campus leaders, and other internal and external stakeholders.
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, highly dynamic environment.
• Must have a record of scholarship and service that includes some combination of the following activities: publication in peer-reviewed journals, and other contributions to peers and the academic community (e.g. conference presentations), peer review service for manuscripts submitted to scholarly journals.
• Must have a minimum of 7-10 years of professional experience related to the academic program area of the appointment.
• Occasional travel to Colorado will be required.
