About the Interim Global People & Culture Manager, Position

Reporting directly to the Head of Operations, the People and Culture Manager will be a thought-partner supporting the development of strategic human resources and organizational development initiatives aimed at creating a workplace culture centered on justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (JEDI) and improves the employee experience of staff members.

The role will also be responsible for managing some of the day-to-day functions of human resources and organizational development. This includes but is not limited to recruitment, talent management, employee and labor relations and compensation and benefits administration.

This role has the authority to intervene when managers and staff are violating employment laws and 350 policies and procedures and may implement workplace investigations and corrective action as appropriate, in consultation with the Head of Operations and/or legal counsel.

This role will manage 3 Global HR Generalists.

Location: Remote in 1 of 26 countries 350.org works

Current countries are: Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Benin, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Fiji, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Netherlands, Nigeria, Philippines, Poland, Senegal,Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan,Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, United Kingdom.

Position Type: Interim – Temporary Full-Time (six months fixed-term contract)

Compensation: Level 3.3

Job Responsibilities

Talent Management 

  • Partner with the Head of Operations in developing HROD initiatives aimed at addressing 350.org’s strategic needs, including building a culture that lives and breathes workplace justice, equity, diversity and inclusion and promotes the wellbeing of workers.
  • Provide input and partner with the Head of Operations in developing and monitoring annual departmental budget, goals and objectives and annual work plan.
  • Administer annual performance management process and provide coaching or training on giving and receiving feedback.
  • Work with the OD Manager and Director of People and Culture in developing and implementing management and staff development programs.

Employee/Labor Relations

  • Provide guidance, structure and management coaching for resolving employment-related issues, ensuring consistency and JEDI in handling employee situations, and administering 350.ORG’s values, policies and procedures.
  • Work with legal counsel in conducting workplace investigations and implementing corrective actions.
  • Develop or update policies and procedures, incorporating justice, equity, diversity and inclusion while also complying with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Administer the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Progressives Workers Union (PWU).
  • Liaison with PWU Representatives to ensure Contract terms are being adhered to.
  • Liaison with Employee Workers Council to ensure workers rights are seen and heard developing action plans to foster better JEDI experiences.

Benefits/Compensation

  • Administer compensation and benefits, including annual benefits renewal or evaluation of new benefits vendors. Act as Plan Administrator for 350.org’s 401k and medical insurance.
  • Evaluate current benefits for cost effectiveness and employee satisfaction and develop new compensation and benefits program and process enhancements.
  • In partnership with the Head of Operations act as a thought-partner in developing total rewards strategies and structure rooted in justice, equity, diversity and inclusion.

Talent Acquisition 

  • Administer the hiring process, ensuring that hiring managers and hiring teams are centering justice, equity, diversity and inclusion in hiring.
  • Work with managers in developing and implementing onboarding plans for new hires.

Other

  • Manage the work and performance of direct reports.
  • When necessary, participate in global processes and initiatives (i.e. change management, etc.)..
  • Other tasks as assigned.
  • Union Relations Experience preferred

Job Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in Human Resources and Organizational Development
  • At least 5 years of experience managing the work and performance of direct reports
  • Knowledge of global HRM and different country laws.
  • Experience working with Employer of Record organizations
  • Understand and embrace 350.org values
  • Proficiency in Google Drive, Slack and Zoom.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written in English
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task

Desired (but not required) qualifications

  • Experience working with Unions / worker representative bodies
  • Understanding of the US National Labor Relations Act (we are a US-based organisation)
  • Previous experience in global not-for-profit
  • SHRM certification preferred
  • Experience working in a fast pace progressive work environment
  • Proficiency in other languages

We are looking for someone who is comfortable working both independently and in teams, highly responsive, and able to lead initiatives as well as take direction from others.
