POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Accounting Operations Manager (Assistant Controller), the Senior Accountant is responsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements, general ledger reconciliations, preparing complex journal entries, maintaining and reconciling intercompany transactions, posting to general ledger, reconciling bank statements, accounts receivable reporting, and other similar activities. Play a key role in the month-end closing processes, including proactively looking for improvements and efficiencies. Responsibilities also include assisting with the capital expenditure accounting processes, appropriate classification of expenditures as either capital or expense. Oversee various tax obligations for the company, including but not limited to, sales tax, income tax, business licenses and annual reporting requirements. Trains and mentors new accountants. Acts as the Subject Matter Expert in the Accounting department.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.
  • Prepare and review accounting entries posted to the general ledger to ensure proper accounting of expenses and revenue. Extract and analyzes data to prepare monthly financial statements and comparative reports, account reconciliations, and cost reports.
  • Support the Accounting Operations Manager by coordinating adherence to the month-end close calendar. Monitor the deadlines per the calendar, work with the relevant parties to resolve issues, and raise problems to the Accounting Operations Manager’s attention in a timely manner
  • Support FP&A and Senior Leadership team for financial reporting performance and variance analysis
  • Take ownership of day-to-day general ledger responsibilities and all aspect of month-end and year-end close, including all journal entries, cash receipts recording and account reconciliations
  • Perform high level monthly general ledger account analysis and reconciliation for assigned general ledger accounts, (i.e., cash, other accounts receivable, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accounts payable, accrued expenses, etc.)
  • Mentor and lead the training of new employees on proper general accounting policies and procedures
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual audit package including footnotes. Also responsible for all necessary related analyses, as well as the timely completion of the audit.
  • Assist in preparing Federal and State income tax returns; quarterly state sales and use tax returns; annual tax returns and exemption requests. Prepare federal, state and regulatory reports as needed.
  • Assist in ensuring accounting procedures comply with relevant tax legislation, regulations and internal controls.
  • Develop and oversee accounts receivable package for Senior Leadership team
  • Perform daily cash management activities for the Department.
  • Strategically analyze trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future operational needs and expenses.
  • Summarize balance sheets and reports to present to senior leadership, and offer suggestions about resource utilization, and assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
  • Assist with the capital approval and consolidated accounting processes, appropriate classification of expenditures as either capital or expense
  • Manage capital spending accounting for WIP/ JIP (works in progress/ jobs in progress). Determine and manage the closing final fixed asset account(s) with appropriate useful lives
  • Responsible for various tax returns filing (IRS Form 990, 990-T, 1120-F, 4720 as well as various state tax returns) for Clearway Health.
  • Complete complex special projects and financial analysis as needed.
  • Promote open communication, team building efforts and collaboration among team members and between departments
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Job Requirements:

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree required with a major or concentration in Finance, Business Management or Accounting preferred.
  • Masters or CPA strongly preferred.
  • 3 Years equivalent additional work experience considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

  • CPA preferred, but not required (in lieu of applicable work experience)

EXPERIENCE:

  • Requires a minimum of five (5) years financial/accounting experience. Managed Services and/or Healthcare, Pharmacy related experience preferred.
  • Up to two (2) years of experience may be waived for candidates with a Master’s degree or CPA.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Experience with large enterprise Accounting and General Ledger system(s) such as Infor.
  • Requires strong analytical skills and a solid working knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Knowledge of auditing standards, regulatory requirements, and the healthcare industry preferred
  • Must have advanced skills with Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Strong oral and written communication skills necessary to interact with all levels of personnel within and outside of the organization
