We are now looking for a Senior Responsible Sourcing Specialist, based in the United States or Canada, to join our Projects and Solutions team.

The Senior Responsible Sourcing Specialist (SRSS) will lead in the development of the US and Canada region in relation to Preferred by Nature’s sustainability advisory services. With support from other divisions and the divisional management team, these responsibilities will include developing a marketing strategy, sales, service delivery and staff development. The staff member will be part of the Tailored Services unit delivering services to clients.

What you will do

As a Senior Responsible Sourcing Specialist, your main tasks will be to develop service proposals, design work plans and provide advisory services to a portfolio of clients in the timber, palm oil, textiles, soy, beef and other natural resource sectors. This role will support commercial clients on their sustainability journey by benchmarking policies to best practices, conducting gap analyses of company due diligence systems, developing traceability standards and audit protocols, and providing third-party verification services.

Job Responsibilities

  • Leading the development of advisory services within the US and Canada
  • Developing compelling service proposals to existing and/or prospective clients
  • Delivering advisory services to a portfolio of clients in different industries and sectors to support them in their goals to meet sustainability commitments
  • Managing multiple project scopes, budgets and work plans to ensure quality, timeliness and financial oversight in relation to the execution of client services

Additional information:

  • The position is remote. Working location: home office of Preferred by Nature office (where available)
  • The position holder reports to the PAS Senior Manager for the Region
  • Expected starting date: as soon as possible

Job Requirements

  • You have a bachelor’s degree and 5 years professional experience, or 4 years’ experience with an advanced degree in forestry, sustainability, environmental management and or comparable relevant experience
  • You have a strong understanding of corporate sustainability and the issues facing the leaders in this space, especially land, biodiversity and climate
  • You have specialist expertise and experience in ESG policy development and implementation, risk-based approaches to sustainability or legal sourcing, and/or corporate climate action
  • You have a proven track record of success working with business in a client/customer-facing position
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills for high-level interaction with current and prospective Preferred by Nature clients
  • You have exceptional project management skills and experience managing multiple disparate projects simultaneously
  • You are well organized and able to maintain structure in your work. You are also comfortable making independent decisions, as the nature of the job requires you to work independently and remotely from your colleagues
  • You have an entrepreneurial mindset, sense of responsibility and willingness to take initiative
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in other languages is an advantage
  • You are service minded, open and friendly. You enjoy communicating with people on all levels
