Job Responsibilities:

  • You will help us plan, design, implement and maintain the Git Virtual File System (GVFS) for Linux.
  • You will respond to the needs of users and of other developers at GitHub.

Job Requirements:

  • You have a track record of high-quality kernel and/or filesystem code.
  • You have proficiency in C or C++.
  • You possess a tenacious ability to diagnose and fix performance and reliability problems.
  • You use a pragmatic approach to decision-making and design choices.
  • You have strong written communication skills and enjoy developing working relationships with coworkers in locations around the globe.
  • You are comfortable working asynchronously with a distributed team.

Preferred Qualifications

You can be a great candidate even if you don’t fit everything we’ve described above. You can also have important skills we haven’t thought of. If that’s you, don’t hesitate to apply and tell us about yourself.

  • You have experience with Linux kernel development.
  • You have experience with virtual filesystems.
  • You have used Git as a developer.
  • You have worked in large, monolithic source code repositories.
