Macy’s is seeking a Director, Content & Digital Platforms to join our Corporate Communications team who will lead the strategy and execution of Macy’s, Inc.’s editorial calendar, social channels and enterprise-wide digital communications tools.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, is an assertive, progressive thinker and inclusive leader. Retail experience is a plus, but not a must.

Location for this position is flexible and will report directly to the VP, Enterprise Communications.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Through partnerships across the Macy’s, Inc. corporate communications team, develop and maintain an editorial calendar aligned with key company strategic initiatives, employee (colleague) engagement strategies and promotional moments.
  • Manage the strategy and execution of content for Macy’s, Inc.’s social media channels (Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter) including organic and paid strategies, through compelling and visual B2B content. Includes management of third-party agency resources.
  • Oversee the development of Macy’s, Inc. enterprise-wide internal digital newsletter through a weekly publication schedule.
  • Maintain and continually improve the corporate intranet using a digital mindset to create opportunities for access and engagement targeting Macy’s, Inc.’s 100,000+ colleagues.
  • Build and maintain a corporate communications-wide dashboard, tracking internal and external communications tools, to determine ROI and effectiveness.
  • Be a strong People Leader, focused on growth and development, for a team of two colleagues.
  • Maintain consistency of brand standards across all materials.
  • Foster a culture of engagement, team building, respect, and recognition.
  • Regular, dependable attendance & punctuality.

Job Requirements:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations or related field required.
  • 8+ years of experience in corporate communications, journalism, public relations or agency, focused on digital storytelling and social media.
  • Strong writing and editing skills are a must.
  • Visual/graphic design experience a plus.

Leadership & Agility:

  • Leadership experience; ability to manage, motivate and engage team members across multiple locations.
  • Flexible approach to work with the ability to toggle between projects and priorities in a high-pressure environment.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and make sound decisions.
  • Must be a strategic thinker with the ability to influence and drive corporate initiatives across multiple locations.
  • Strong personal impact with the ability to easily build relationships and credibility.
  • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to handle multiple requests in a timely manner.

Work Hours:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
  • Travel limited in this role to quarterly in-person meetings if candidate sits outside of NYC area.
