Job Overview:

Join us as a remote Senior Accountant, and help make sure the employees of DuckDuckGo keep getting paid on time. As part of our growing team, you will collaborate with team members at all levels to support our back-office finance functions and build out the Finance team processes. Examples of projects you might work on include: managing our bill pay process, managing payroll and financial statement preparation.

Instead, we follow our own professional levels, with expectations for each level clearly defined across several dimensions.We are a small, remote team distributed across time zones, and we rely on a variety of communication tools throughout the day. You should feel comfortable with the intricacies of this type of work situation.Sometimes we meet up! Expect to travel at least two times a year: once for our all-hands meetup and again for a team retreat (each ~4-5 days).We believe in a focused approach to collaboration, where individual team members work on a single top priority at a time, each supporting larger, company-wide objectives. Job Responsibilities:

Lead projects from proposal through postmortem, assessing vague problems, proposing high-impact solutions, and executing them against a set of success criteria.Share ownership in the monthly close process and prepare consolidated financial statements with a foreign exchange translation component.Share ownership in the monthly vendor payment process.Share ownership in the bi-monthly internal payroll process.Be the first line of defense for all accounting questions from employees and external parties.Other ad hoc accounting-related reporting needs.Coordinate with our external accountants for the annual audit and tax preparation.

Job Requirements:

What we are looking for:5+ years of experience in the field of accountingWilling to work in North American Time Zones to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholdersExperience preparing US GAAP financial statementsExperience processing payroll and accounts payableEffective project management skillsStrong communication skills; you can validate and communicate your decisions clearlyStrong attention to detailGrowth mindset that responds well to feedbackPunctualityIn addition to the two annual meetups referenced below, you will be expected to travel to HQ once a year for approximately one week to assist with the financial statement audit.
