Job Overview:

llustrative Mathematics is looking for creative, detail-oriented writers with expertise in working with English learners in a K-5 mathematics classroom. This will be a fast-paced, intense project with firm deadlines. This position requires very strong attention to detail, and the ability to self-manage in a remote workspace.  Work hours are flexible, and part-time options are available from 10–30 hours per week for contract employment.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Write instructional supports for teachers that provide English learners access to the IM Elementary Mathematics Curriculum.
  • Give thoughtful and actionable critiques of lesson plan components by asking questions and giving constructive feedback.
  • Understand critiques of your work and incorporate it to continuously improve the product.
Job Requirements:
  • Have expertise in K-5 mathematics teaching and learning.
  • Have experience working with English learners in a mathematics classroom.
  • Have experience and knowledge of how to modify curricular materials to support English learners.
  • Is willing to learn new concepts and processes.
  • Possesses strong communication and writing skills.
  • Is able to collaborate with a team of curriculum writers and program advisors to give and receive feedback.
  • Be responsive, motivated, self-directed, organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Be comfortable working exclusively online. Work will be done remotely, so access to a reliable computer and internet connection is necessary.
  • Have knowledge of, or willingness and ability to quickly learn, multiple online tools such as Google Apps, Slack, Zoom, and our own content management system.
