Job Description:

WANTED: A Director of HR to steward our culture and grow our team.

Precision Nutrition is looking for a progressive HR veteran who’s passionate about health, fitness and helping people live their best life.

Precision Nutrition is growing, and we need an adaptable, resilient HR partner who can manage our entire HR function from start to finish. As one of the largest nutrition coaching companies in the world, Precision Nutrition is bigger than it’s ever been and it’s about to get bigger.

To help us scale, we need a leader who knows how to recruit the best talent, scale a SaaS organization, and help our employees grow so we can help millions more people live healthier, happier lives.

Join our Adventure

We’re embarking on a new adventure, and we need an innovative leader to oversee our entire HR function.

We’ve got an exciting journey ahead of us Over the next 10 years, Precision Nutrition will be expanding its world-class education and coaching services into a wide range of new fields, including yoga, group exercise, sports coaches, athletes, manual therapy and more.

As a PE-backed, fully remote organization that practices Holacracy, we need a seasoned HR professional who can build upon our strengths-based organization, support and grow our team, nurture our unique culture, and mature our Holacracy practice so we can reach our goals.

Job Responsibilities:

Guiding our team through uncharted waters

You’re a leader, advisor, and partner, balancing the organization’s staffing needs with our teams’ well-being.

You’re responsible for everything HR-related at the entire company, including:

  • Managing the entire employee life cycle. Everything from workforce planning, recruiting, onboarding, independent contractor coordination and management, compensation, benefits, employment agreements, team feedback, performance, time off and offboarding is all on you. That also includes managing all HR vendors, data, and tools while ensuring everything is confidential and accurate. As a seasoned HR professional, you know that you’re responsible for handling any other administrative duties and strategic decisions that come your way.
  • Promoting and nurturing the culture as we evolve. PN is unique. And yes, most companies do say that…yet, we’re 100% remote (nope, no office anywhere), we practice Holacracy, we don’t have managers, we thrive on being a strengths-based organization, we’re purpose-driven, we lead with generosity, and every single day, we strive to be a little betteras individuals, as teams and as an organization – a perpetual growth mindset, or kaizen. You have a heavy hand in ensuring the core of PN flourishes as we grow and evolve the team and our business.
  • Being a coach and partner. You’re a trusted and credible advisor, so building a strong rapport with the entire team is important. It’ll be your role to help everyone identify their unique abilities and make sure their strengths are being used to the fullest extentand if they’re having difficulty navigating, you will guide them through the challenges that come their way

Job Requirements:

An efficient, independent leader ready to break the HR mold

You’re an optimistic, trusted and astute coach. You build authentic relationships with our team, contractors and PN partners. You have integrity, talent and a palpable excitement about the future. Shadiness, mediocrity and pessimism are out.

You’re adaptable and proactive. Things change, and you’re deft at pivoting quickly. You’re able to seamlessly integrate perspectives, evaluate context, make decisions and move forward. As our strategy evolves, you can unpack what that means for the team, identify opportunities and initiatives, determine where you can make the biggest impact for the team, and take action.

You’re an excellent communicator. Whether verbal or written we are a fully remote team, after allyou know how to have authentic conversations with people. You’re assertive, honest, and you welcome using your voice to represent our team and PN.

You’re empathetic and resilient. You can put yourself in the shoes of others and make sure their needs are being met. You can steer your way through any difficult conversation, and come out the other end having built trust with your colleagues. You’re okay with getting pushed and pulled in multiple directions at once. You’ve got a thick skin, and you don’t take things personally or get defensiveinstead, you welcome feedback and use it as an opportunity to learn.

You relish a good challenge. You embody the growth mindset, and you’re not here to go through the motions. You live outside your comfort zone, and are always striving to learn more, push boundaries, and be a little bit better than you were yesterday.

You have an itch to innovate and embrace technology. You aren’t satisfied with the traditional mold of HR. The idea of a fully remote, holacracy-practicing team gets you excited, and you’re passionate about working for a progressive company and being a steward of our unique culture. Since we’re fully remote, you’ll spend much of your day in Zoom, Slack, G Suite, BambooHR, and a myriad of other online/digital tools. You aren’t afraid to bring new ideas forward and energize changein fact, you love it.

You can work independently. While you’ll be regularly interfacing with people across the organization, there will be you and one recruiter managing the entire HR function. No one will be providing direction to youyou’ll be steering the ship. Over time, it will be up to you to determine what our Human Resource team will need in the future to thrive and be awesome.

You’re hyper organized. Constant task switching doesn’t phase you in the least, because you’ve got your to-do list in order. You thrive in an environment where you’re a master at prioritization, get to work at a fast and steady pace, and helping the rest of the team navigate their roles all the while. You’re the Marie Kondo of HR.

A few important caveats

Must-Have #2: You must be a natural born leader. You know how to lead and coach a team. You know how to keep your finger on the pulse of the organization, empower people to get what they need, and make use of their strengths and find solutionsrather than overloading them with constructive criticism.

Must-Have #3: You must be adept at scaling a team and leading through change. Precision Nutrition is growing rapidly and expanding our business. You’ve been part of a growing business before, you’ll need to be able to roll with the fact that things are constantly in flux as the team and business evolve. Adaptability will serve you well.
