Freelance Writer(Blogger) – Money Pantry

Job Expired

We’re looking for anyone with unusual and interesting, yet practical, ideas for earning and saving more money.

If you have a story that we haven’t yet covered on MoneyPantry, we would love to hear from you.

We especially like detailed stories with numbers, strategies, and tips.

We welcome all writers–whether you want to write for us daily, weekly, monthly, or do a one-time post.

What If I’m Not a Freelance Writer?

That’s OK too.

We welcome anyone who wants to contribute.

In fact, if you have ever made or saved money in an unusual and interesting way, we want to hear from you.

Read the guidelines below and send us your story, and if we publish it you’ll be paid anywhere from $30 to $150 via PayPal.

Here Are Some Broad Guidelines to Keep in Mind:

–Aim for no less than 700 words. Generally, we like longer articles in 1000 to 2000 words range. However, we understand there are stories that can be told in fewer words.

— Use Introduction and Summary. Make sure to start the post with an introduction (few sentences). And end the post with a “Takeaway” or “Final Words”.

–Write in a “bloggy”, friendly, style. You want to make the reader feel like you’re talking to them face to face. Forget about magazine style writing – write the way you speak with your friends.

–Focus on helping the reader. Will it help them earn, save, or grow their money? Practical and actionable advice are what our readers like. Give tips and strategies that people can use in their everyday lives.

–Include actual real life examples. If it is something you haven’t personally experienced, then be sure to reference another person or source with a link.

–Link to other related posts on MoneyPantry. Please be sure to use appropriate keywords when linking to other posts.

–Include a sentence or two bio at the bottom of your post. You’re welcome to add a link to your site in the bio or within the post, however, please keep in mind that we do not pay for articles that include link to your site or a site of a company you work with.

Break Up the Content

This is very important!

Blog readers like to skim, they don’t like to see a wall of text 6 sentences long!

Be sure to break up the content by doing the following:

  • No paragraph more than 2-3 sentence long.
  • Use single sentence paragraphs whenever possible.
  • Don’t be afraid to use a one-two word sentence or paragraph to give readers a visual break.
  • Use bulleted and numbered lists whenever appropriate.
  • Use headings and sub-headings to separate different parts of your post.

Of course, you can always look at some of our live blog posts to get an overall feel for the style and tone of our posts, how we format the content, how we break up the text, etc.

What Should I Write About?

You can write about anything that has to do with earning and saving money.

However, we don’t want the usual stuff you find on every other personal finance blog.

We are looking for unusual and unique ideas and strategies that everyday people can use to earn and save more money.

Please be sure to search MoneyPantry.com to make sure the topic/title you want to contribute hasn’t been covered already.

Do I Get Paid?

Yes, of course!

And just how much you get paid depends on a few factors, such as the quality of your post and how useful it is. Generally, we pay between $30 to $150 per post.

We do let you know how much we can pay you before we publish your post.

When Do I Get Paid?

We will send your payment via PayPal as soon as your post goes live.

Will You Edit My Submission?

Yes, we’ll edit every submission to ensure it fits the style and tone of MoneyPantry while at the same time we make sure to preserve your unique voice.

We may also add affiliate links within the post. You’ll be notified of any changes before the post gets published.

Do I Need to Add a Picture?

No, we will take care of that.

What about a Headline/title?

Yes, we encourage you to add an attention-grabbing headline.

However, we may also edit the headline or change it altogether for proper SEO and style.

How Do I Submit My Post?

Please include an HTML version of your post in a simple text file and email it to us via editor@moneypantry.com.

Use “MoneyPantry Guest Post” as the subject of your email.

Important: we will not respond to guest posts sent to us that are not in HTML format and don’t have the “MoneyPantry Guest Post” in the subject line.

Important: Please be Patient

I would love to check and respond to emails as quickly as possible. But I get a lot of emails so I can’t respond to everyone as quickly as I would like to.

I try to get back with you in less than a week or so. But sometimes it may take up to 2 weeks (and sometimes even more) for me to respond to your email. If you haven’t heard from me in 2 weeks, please feel free to send a reminder email.

Thank you for your understanding.

Anything else I need to know?

That’s about it.

Remember, as long as your story is unique, includes practical and useful tips and advice, is detailed, and will actually help people make or save more money, send it in.

We look forward to reading your submission!
